Strengthening Capacities for Future Projects: Nina Vidović at the PCM Training in Mostar

Association HerzegovinaBike continues its continuous investment in the professional development of its members to effectively respond to the challenges posed by major international and domestic projects. From March 4th to 6th, 2026, our member Nina Vidović participated in an intensive three-day training titled Project Cycle Management (PCM), held in Mostar.

What is PCM and why is it important for cycle tourism?

The Project Cycle Management (PCM) methodology represents the gold standard used by the European Union and other international donors for the preparation, planning, and management of projects. Given that HerzegovinaBike is the lead for numerous activities related to the development of EuroVelo routes and the revitalization of the Ciro Trail, mastering these tools is crucial for our future work.

The training was organized by the Association for Economic Development REDAH as part of the RuralLink project. The sessions were led by Nevzet Sefo, an expert with three decades of experience in preparing project proposals for EU funds and international donors.

Acquiring Practical Knowledge

During the three-day training, through interactive workshops and practical exercises, Nina Vidović mastered all phases of the project cycle:

  • Problem and Stakeholder Analysis: How to precisely define the needs of the local community and cyclists.
  • Defining Objectives: Setting measurable results that contribute to rural development.
  • Budgeting and Logical Framework: High-quality resource planning for infrastructure and promotional projects.
  • Implementation and Reporting: Ensuring transparency and efficiency in project execution.

A Vision for Sustainable Development

Participation in this training is part of HerzegovinaBike's broader strategy to increase its competitiveness when applying for various funds and public calls. Our goal is clearer than ever – to professionalize our approach to cycle tourism development to ensure the long-term sustainability of our trails and tourism offerings.

These types of educations are essential because they allow us to translate our visions into professional project applications recognized by European donors. The knowledge gained through PCM will be directly applied to our future activities in the rural development of Herzegovina” , the association stated.

The RuralLink project, through which the training was conducted, is implemented by REDAH in partnership with the Linnovate Foundation as part of the broader BOOST project, with the financial support of the AFD.
