When a Local Initiative Becomes a Global Story –
A Spectacle Putting Bosnia and Herzegovina on the World Cycling Map!
In just ten days, the mountain gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina – Blidinje Nature Park – will once again host the biggest and most exciting cycling event in the region. Continental Blidinje BIKE Festival 2025., taking place from July 11 to 13, is entering its seventh edition, boasting a powerful program, international recognition, and support from some of the world’s leading brands – Continental and Oakley.
A Race Against Time, Nature, and One’s Own Limits
It’s no exaggeration to say that Blidinje will transform into the epicenter of European MTB cycling during those days. The festival holds UCI Class 1 status, a high level of international recognition that attracts professional cyclists from over 15 countries.
Two specially selected races on the scenic trails of Blidinje Nature Park will challenge competitors physically and mentally, while recreational riders can enjoy a relaxed pace through one of Southeast Europe’s most beautiful landscapes. With six feed zones, a rich culinary offer, local delicacies, and rest areas along the route, the experience goes far beyond sport – it’s cultural and touristic as well.
Education and Development in the Heart of Nature: UCI Camp from July 6
This year, the festival goes beyond spectacular races and family fun – it takes a major step in the development of professional cycling in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the UCI coaching camp and educational program, supported by the Olympic Committee of BiH and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
Starting July 6, 2025, Blidinje will become a hub of knowledge and education for cycling coaches across the region. In cooperation with the Olympic Committee of BiH and UCI, Blidinje will hold a UCI Level 2 coaching camp, aimed at transferring the latest knowledge and best practices in professional cycling to coaches working with young athletes.
UCI will send certified experts from its World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland, to conduct both practical and theoretical modules. Upon completion, all participants will receive a UCI Level 2 diploma, significantly strengthening the coaching capacity in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
“We can proudly say that we’ve achieved major milestones for cycling in Bosnia and Herzegovina – this is exactly what I want to do during my term. In addition to the sporting and touristic significance of the festival, we are now opening the door to education, which is crucial for developing future generations of athletes. We’re grateful to the Olympic Committee of BiH and UCI for recognizing the importance of this project,” said Toni Zorić, President of the Cycling Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
