Bosnia and Herzegovina is already, nearly seven months ahead of the official start, seeing tremendous interest in the upcoming international stage cycling race Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026. Although the race has not yet been officially confirmed in the UCI calendar (confirmation is expected in October 2025 at the congress in Kigali), the organizers have already received applications from 17 international teams..
Notably, among the registered teams is one UCI Pro Team, and as many as six UCI Continental Teams, a clear indication that Bosnia and Herzegovina will host a world-class competition in 2026. Adding to this, the traditional interest from teams across the Balkans brings the number of confirmed participants to more than 20 teams already.
The first informal invitations triggered a strong response – more than 20 teams from 16 countries have already announced their arrival, including Great Britain, France, Greece, Poland, Switzerland, Slovakia, Spain, Hungary, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Austria and of course, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
President of the BiH Cycling Federation, Toni Zorić, announced his upcoming trip to Africa, where he will participate in the UCI Congress in Rwanda in October. There, he will present the Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina and hold a series of meetings with delegations from other countries, further strengthening international cooperation and interest in this historic project.
Institutional Support and Partners
This strong interest is accompanied by equally strong support from institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The organizers have already held meetings with relevant ministries, cantonal governments, host cities, and the Olympic Committee of BiH, which is the official partner of the race. Special attention is dedicated to safety and traffic management, with the Ministry of Interior playing a key role in ensuring smooth organization of the event.
At the same time, intensive discussions are being held with partners and sponsors, with several renowned companies already expressing interest. The goal is to secure the best possible conditions for professional race organization and to maximize the promotional impact for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Biggest Sports and Tourism Event in BiH
The Tour of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026 is much more than a cycling race – it is an opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina to present itself to the world through sport, tourism, and culture. Host cities Sarajevo, Mostar, Ljubuški, and Neum, along with stage points in Konjic, Jablanica, Čapljina, Grude, and Stolac, will welcome the spectacle that will gather elite cyclists and attract global media attention.
This is a historic moment – Bosnia and Herzegovina is launching its own “Grand Tour” and hosting a major stage race for the first time. The event promises to unite sport, tourism, and community, while sending the most beautiful postcard of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the world.
