HerzegovinaBike Announces Results of the First Field Phase – Route Now Available Online
The association HerzegovinaBike proudly announces the successful completion of the first phase of the cycling route Sarajevo – Mostar – Dubrovnikproject, a strategic outdoor initiative aimed at connecting key destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region through sustainable, eco-friendly, and tourist-attractive infrastructure.
Over the past weekend, the HerzegovinaBike team cycled and explored the Sarajevo – Mostar section to collect GPX tracks, photo and video materials, create a technical route description, and engage with local communities directly involved in the project. The section from Mostar to Dubrovnik, following the well-known Ćiro Trail, is already established and required less promotional and mapping work; however, we updated this part with new cycling signs and installed a bike service station in the village of Hutovo.
All results from this first phase are now available on the official HerzegovinaBike website, where cyclists can access:

This scenic route passes through breathtaking areas such as Bjelašnica, Lukomir, Visočica, Boračko Lake, and Rujište, ending in Mostar, from where it continues along the Ćiro Trail all the way to Dubrovnik. The entire project is funded by the European Union under the initiative “EU for Local Communities”and implemented by the Centre for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD) and organization HELP.
“We are proud to have completed this important phase of the project and to already have a concrete route available to everyone. This is just the beginning of a major effort that will position Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map of European cycle tourism,” said Toni Zorić, president of HerzegovinaBike.
“Our goal was simple – to offer cyclists from around the world an authentic and safe experience of riding through one of the most beautiful regions in Europe. This route doesn’t just connect cities – it connects people, cultures, and landscapes”, added Zorić.

Your contribution was vital to the realization of this project and is helping create new opportunities for local communities, sustainable tourism development, and the promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s outdoor potential.
In the upcoming second phase, the focus will be on developing a central web platform for cycling and hiking routes in BiH, expanding the network of outdoor trails across the country, and carrying out marketing and promotional activities to further showcase our country to both domestic and international visitors.
HerzegovinaBike remains committed to developing new outdoor destinations and connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European cycling route network – all with the aim of strengthening the local economy, sustainability, and the international recognition of the country as a top destination for adventure tourism.
