The 2nd meeting of the CIRO bicycle route FORUM

On November 30, 2023, the second meeting of the CIRO FORUM took place in Ravno, attended by representatives from the public, private, and non-governmental sectors, including municipalities, cycling clubs, private service providers, development agencies, and tourist boards.

After the introductory address, the activities carried out in 2023 were presented.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding activities and proposals aimed at preparing the operational plan for 2024, based on the document "Plan upravljanja biciklističkom stazom ĆIRO" (Management Plan for the ĆIRO Cycling Trail).

The Ćiro Route Forum has been established, serving as an informal assembly consisting of representatives from key stakeholders in the region associated with the Ćiro Route. These include municipalities, tourist boards and organizations, the private sector, cycling clubs, development agencies, and an executive body represented by members of REDAH, the Association Hercegovina Bike from Mostar, the municipality of Ravno, the association Vučji zub from Trebinje, and the tourist organization of the city of Trebinje.

The Ćiro Route Forum has been established for more effective coordination of activities along the Ćiro Route.

The management plan for the Ćiro Route has gained support from stakeholders who have expressed interest and readiness to work on promotion, route maintenance, event organization, and all other activities aimed at making this tourist product even more visible on both domestic, regional, and foreign tourist markets. It is important to note that local governments have expressed readiness not only to support the physical maintenance of the route but also to provide financial support for the planned activities. In this regard, a cooperation agreement has been signed, outlining rights and obligations and support for the implementation of activities in accordance with the Management Plan and operational plan.

This agreement was signed by the City of Mostar, the City of Trebinje, the City of Stolac, the municipality of Neum, the municipality of Ravno, and the municipality of Bileća, as well as REDAH, which operationally coordinates the implementation of activities. The goal of this agreement is to improve the coordination of tourism development activities in the Herzegovina region and enhance the quality and offerings around the Ćiro cycling route. This aims to attract new tourists, support local entrepreneurship, increase domestic and foreign investments, boost employment, and improve the quality of life for residents in rural areas.
